“Welcome” Jamie Dimon, CEO of JP Morgan CHASE, to Seattle this Wednesday!

On Wednesday, November 2, 2011,, Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JP Morgan Chase will be visiting Seattle. Chase collected billions in bailouts while giving millions in bonuses to executives like Dimon, laying off thousands of Washingtonians, and forcing families out of their homes with predatory lending.

Let’s show him that what Seattle really thinks of banksters like him!

We’ll be taking on Dimon with some awesome events:

1pm: Meet at Seattle Central Community College – 1 hour speak out.
2pm: March and action at a major bank.
4:30pm: Meet at Westlake Park to make signs and other preparations for march
6pm: March from Westlake Park to the Sheraton where Mr. Dimon will be speaking.

Occupy Seattle believes that Chase bank and Jamie Dimon are complicit in the collapse of the US economy and the ongoing economic injustice in our nation today.

The list of injustices is long. Here is a short sample:

  • While the majority of Americans saw their incomes decrease in 2010, Dimon received a 1,500 percent increase in compensation to $20.8 million.
  • Dimon believes that foreclosure is a form of magnanimous “debt relief” that leaves the former homeowners “better off” than they were before. As he said in May 2011, “…Giving debt relief to people that really need it, that’s what foreclosure is.”
  • In 2011, Chase agreed to pay $153.6 million to settle US Securities and Exchange Commission fraud charges.
  • In March of 2010, Chase agreed to pay $75 million in fines and forfeit $647 million in fees to settle federal regulators’ charges that it made unlawful payments to friends of public officials to win municipal bond business.
  • In October 2010, executives at Chase confessed to signing tens of thousands of foreclosure documents without reading them.
  • In 2009, Chase reported a profit of $11.7 billion, more than twice its profit for 2008, the year the bank received a federal taxpayer bailout of $94.7 billion.
  • Adding insult to injury, Chase admitted in January of this year to overcharged more than 4,000 active-duty military personnel on their home loans.

The action is also in solidarity with the planned General Strike in Oakland. Let’s make November 2nd one to remember! Please RSVP and invite all your friends to this Facebook event:

    Seattle artist Duff Hendrickson created an anti-BigBank protest flier and published it as Public Domain permission to publish, print, post, pass around. There is a large resolution image posted for your use at the Internet Archive site.

    Please download it. Print it, and pass it around in front of Chase Bank. I moved my money out of Chase, closed the account, moved it to a credit union. Be sure to totally close your account. They’ll get the message in New York Chase HQ.

    Note that you do not have to be an employee of Boing to open an account at BECU. They pay you interest on your checking account average daily balance.

    BECU won’t take you. So do some footwork and call around to Credit Unions and find ones that aren’t as strict.

    Friends;
    I got a little pepper spray, and also was hit in the jaw ( by a different police officer than the one who pepper sprayed me), during the “police riot” which ensued at the end of our peaceful 2 hour protest at Chase bank branch on Broadway. More later, gotta go now. There is a Seattle Police Officer whose last name in SUNDERLAND, a male about 6 feet 3 inches tall, who was acting as a bully. He hit me with his bicycle handle bars, and I personally saw him hit at least 4 other protesters, in the face or upper chest, with his bicycle handle-bars or his bicycle seat. Officer SUNDERLAND needs to have a time-out, and desk duty, or be fired, in my opinion!!!

      Brother’s and sisters – we can avoid a lot of violence and accomplish more if we look to the Egyptians for our best tool. We hold the “POWER” in the palm of our hands. Yes folks your cellphones. What would happen every Monday if at the opening of Wall Street we all got on our phones and computers and started using all of our data (down load videos – they take the most), texting, and especially our phone minutes -Friends & Family and Unlimited or FREE minutes? Keep them going all day. It would paralyze the communication network and show them how powerful their “Consumers” are. All services should be slashed to the bone instead of being dinged for every little late fee and reconnect charge services should serve not TAKE!
      SECONDLY-Don’t fight the police. They are part of the 99%. They are just doing their jobs. Instead of making them drag or carry you, go willingly and tell them how you understand they are just doing their jobs. Then do this. Make them arrest everyone. Over flow the system. If they have to arrest thousands they will have nowhere to house them all (don’t get bailed out – this ain’t Wall Street).
      THIRDLY – We need to constantly play exerts from the movie Gandhi at all of our events. I can help with the editing on this.
      FOURTHLY – What we did to close down the docks is the kind of thing we need to focus on. Note how the police reacted when we went up against Chase. Footnote: Chase is the main force behind the land-barons that committed genocide against our Native American Brothers (I’m 1/8 Cherokee)in their effort to push the railroads and grab as much land as possible before anyone else developed the wild west.
      SO WHO’S WITH ME???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Friends;
    As the 5 arrestees who went inside the bank this afternoon were being escorted out to the paddy wagon, for some reason the police, who had escorted us professionally on the march from SCCC to the Broadway Chase bank branch and allowed us to peacefully protest outside for about 2 hours, seemed to be in a big hurry to get the arrests over with. We protesters did not feel like immediately getting entirely out of the way of this police action. From my viewpoint, that was entirely understandable (since the real criminals are the top managers and CEO of Chase Bank).
    At any rate , as a bit of pushing and shoving ensued, suddenly a male SPD officer whose last name is either CEYBA or CEBYA decided to squirt his pepper spray on some of us. I immediately questioned CEYBA as to the name of his supervisor who authorized the use of the pepper spray. I got no response from CEYBA other than an icy stare. I repeatedly asked him the question again several times, and got zero response each time, other than that icy stare.
    I am only guessing here, but I believe that in all probability the initial pepper spraying by officer CEYBA instigated the ensuing “police riot”. I also believe an investigation should be conducted as to whether Ceyba was acting as a “loose cannon”, or recieved instructions from his supervisor to release the pepper spray.
    My personal feeling is that Ceyba needs either a desk job or a reprimand and suspension or outright firing. I feel the same about another officer, a 6’3″ male named SUNDERLAND. SUNDERLAND assaulted myself and at least 4 other protesters by hitting us in the face or chest with the handlebars or seat of his bicycle.
    Please, Mayor McGinn and Police Chief John Diaz, investigate and relieve those officers of that type of duty. There was simply no reason to hurry up the end of the arrest process that I can see. Was it shift change or something?, or did those two officers cause a “police riot” because they watch too much FOX NEWS, or are they just bullies?? What gives??
    Thanks for listening
